  • Next Steps!

Your AYSO Board is working diligently this summer to get everything in place for the fall season. You will hear from us in June & July if we need coaches in your child's division. Our region has just under 100 teams which means we will need hundreds of volunteers to create a great program for the kids and teens. We need coaches, assistant coaches, referees, team parents, and other volunteers (snack shack & board). Your help is vital to our success. To volunteer go to www.eayso.org and fill out a volunteer form. Take online Safe Haven @ www.aysotraining.org. Use the Contact Us tab to email to show interest. Training will be available this summer here in La Habra. You will receive a call or email regarding team information mid to late July. Practices may begin as early as August 1st. Games begin after Labor Day. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with our program by going through our website. Thank you & looking forward to another great soccer season!

  • Referee Classes Coming Soon

    Wanted: Rookie Refs!

    Referee flyer

Imagine arriving to the field on a Saturday for your child’s soccer game.  Both teams are ready to play…but there are no referees. How disappointed will the kids be?

We understand that it is a very scary step to volunteer as a referee.  However, sometimes when we step out of our comfort zone we find the most rewarding things.  To assist our referees:

    • We will train you.
    • We will support and mentor you.
    • We will give you a drink and a hot dog or hamburger for every game you referee.  (Hungry referees are grumpy referees!)
    • We will give you a super cool uniform.  Bold yellow is the new color for fall!
    • We will give you a really good excuse to get exercise.
    • And the best reason... we will give you the opportunity to be on the field with players and to have a profoundly positive impact on their lives

    Who can be a referee?

We are looking to train volunteers 12 years of age and older. Many middle and high school students have volunteer service hour requirement for school.  Referee training and officiating games absolutely count.  We love to sign off on volunteer hours for our hard working youth referees! We recommend that youth referees takes the class with their parent because it can be intimidating for youth volunteers to ask questions.  It is a good experience for parent and child.... many of the Region 94 Board Members and volunteers have attended the training together.

When are the Referee Training Classes?

Date:              Sunday September 8, 2013 Check in:      7:30 am Time:            8:00 - 12:00 Location:      Imperial Middle School MPR                         1450 S. I have written a letter to Target La Habra, the City Manager of La Habra and sent an email to Target Corp. Below is a copy of the letter. I am writing in regards to the parking situation for AYSO region 94. I am aware that the Target at Imperial and Idaho in the City of La Habra has prohibited parking for all AYSO activities. I am also aware that AYSO region 94 board members have been talking with Target and the City of La Habra to try to reach an amicable solution. The following is my opinion and as I reside in La Habra, work in La Habra and do most of my shopping in La Habra. I hope it is valued. I have been involved with AYSO region 94 since 1999 when my oldest was 6 years old. I have never held a board position but I have been a coach, team mom and referee. During my early years, Kmart occupied Target's current location. There was a gate directly from the parking lot to the soccer field and Kmart would have BBQ's in front of their store for families to purchase a meal. We also had easy access to the store for forgotten half time snacks or water. It was a very easy relationship between Kmart and the soccer families. In the years since Kmart has closed and Target has moved in, the relationship has become tumultuous. Target first sealed off the entrance directly to the field requiring families to walk around. Now, they are prohibiting all parking for AYSO activities. The schools that AYSO uses for games and practices are an elementary school and middle school which require very little parking as none of their students drive. Parking is very limited. Prohibiting parking in Target's lot will impact the residents around the school as well as AYSO families. What I don't understand is why Target is being so difficult. The AYSO families shop before games and after games, before practices and after practices. Target is getting our business. If Target took advantage of the hundreds of AYSO families from La Habra and the surrounding cities, it would be a win-win for everyone. Instead, Target's management is making it difficult for everyone involved. Target is being unreasonable. I, as well as everyone living in and around La Habra, have many options for purchases. We have a small Wal-Mart and a large Wal-Mart, Kohl's, Staples, grocery stores and even another Target at Whittwood. I will no longer be patronizing the Target at Imperial and Idaho and I will encourage all of my friends and family to utilize other sources for their needs as well. Facebook can reach an amazing number of people. I would like to encourage Target to reconsider their position on parking for AYSO activities. I would like to utilize and support all businesses in La Habra but am unwilling to do so for a company that is not being a supportive member of our community. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. If you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me. ... See MoreSee Less

AYSO Region 94 La Habra

Friends and Family: Board members are continuing our conversation with the city of La Habra, Target, and their management company. We have not reached an amicable solution yet, however; we are not giving up. Unfortunately, this means that we cannot use the Target parking lot for picture day. Please support our region in negotiating a long term solution by continuing to NOT park at Target for any AYSO practices, games, or events. We hope to have better news soon... ... See MoreSee Less

AYSO Region 94 La HabraWe run this region very professionally and I take offense to your statements. Let me guess you and your husband are to busy to coach. It's what we hear all day long but yet we still manage. I have a tremendous amount of respect for parents who after a long days work come out and coach, especially those with no experience. Yet you use this forum to ridicule and threaten. We are not afraid to speak with people and let them know what is happening but I will not tolerate the use of foul language on our page. Please leave our program we need volunteers and supporters not complainers. This will be the end of this conversation.2 days ago
